There's No Place Like Home
No Place Like Home is a program of Lost Pet Services, Inc. that helps families facing financial hardship keep their pets at home. We provide assistance with veterinary care and other essential needs to help prevent pets from being surrendered to shelters. Approved veterinary assistance is generally limited to $500 per pet, with some exceptions for critical cases.
Residents of Manatee, Sarasota, and Charlotte Counties who are experiencing financial hardship and are at risk of surrendering their pets may qualify for assistance. Proof of financial need is required, and all requests are reviewed individually.​​

Since 2018, we have funded over $300,000 in medical care, both critical and minor cases, and provided many safety-net resources to help hundreds of pets and pet owners in need. A sample of our impact can be seen here: Recipients of Giving

Donations make it possible for us to do this life-saving work. Each donation enables us to carry out crucial, life-saving efforts. We are 100% volunteer-run with no paid staff, and all donations are tax-deductible.

Routine Veterinary Care
Vaccinations, heartworm testing, and other routine veterinary services for pet owners experiencing financial hardship.

Sick Pet Veterinary Care
Assistance with veterinary care for treatable illnesses, including ear, skin, and mouth infections and other non-emergency medical conditions.

Short-Term Boarding/Foster Care
Short-term boarding assistance for pets whose owners are experiencing a temporary crisis, such as hospitalization, domestic violence, or housing instability.​

Medical Foster Care
Temporary medical aftercare for pets whose owners are unable to provide the care needed during recovery.​

Pet Food & Supplies
Assistance with pet food and essential supplies, including litter, collars, leashes, crates, and other basic necessities for families experiencing financial hardship.

Behavioral Training
Short-term behavioral training assistance for families at risk of surrendering their pets due to behavior-related challenges.

Microchipping & Free Registration
Microchips are provided in collaboration with ARC & the Humane Society of Manatee County (HSMC). HSMC requires an exam to receive our free microchip program. All pets must be spayed or neutered. We offer free, lifetime registration for pets previously chipped and not registered.​

Shelter Impound Fees
Assistance with shelter reclaim fees for owners who cannot afford to bring their pets home. Pets must be spayed or neutered.

Humane Euthanasia
Financial assistance with compassionate, humane euthanasia when a pet is suffering and the owner cannot afford end-of-life veterinary care.
Requirements for Assistance
All requests require an application and are reviewed individually. Proof of financial need is required, and assistance is subject to available funding.

Pets receiving assistance must be spayed or neutered, or their owners must agree to have the procedure performed. Exceptions may be made when a veterinarian determines the procedure is medically unsafe.
